Margaret River is a town located 3 hours away from Perth by drive.
Can you take public transport? Sure do!
The journey from Margaret River is a place truly to wine and dine. A super chill place that is family friendly to relax and while their time away amongst nature.
This is my kind of holiday.
Margaret River is famous for its winery. We visited Flametree, Glenarty Road Winery, and The Berry Farm this time round.
But apart from wine, they have numerous great food available too. In this post, I’ll bring you through the great food and drinks we had eaten in Margaret River.
- Teddies Big Spoon

This is a Korean BBQ eatery from Margaret River Town which is within walking distance to Woolworths. We were searching for food after a trip to Woolworths and smelt the delicious BBQ from the shop. The shop is run by Koreans therefore it’s very authentic but the menu is a little tweak for local taste, I believe. Deep rich Kimchi Hotpot is written on their menu but tastes just like Kimchi Jiggae. If you are Asian looking for some Asian taste after all the fish and chips, please pop by this place. It’s a double thumbs up from me.
2. The Berry Farm

Out of all the places that we researched going, this was the place that I was looking forward to the most. And they definitely did not disappoint.
In fact, they exceeded my expectations. It is situated on a big plot of land which consists of a huge open-air carpark, 2 outdoor dining areas, a kitchen, a retail shop, 2-3 playgrounds, 2 cows, and an avocado farm.
The purpose of my visit was to try their blueberry wine. It was delicious. Another of their specialty is their scones which we did not try.

Instead, we ordered pancakes to share with the kids. Pancakes were fluffy with whipping cream, ice cream, and homemade jam. This is a place where parents can drink and chill while watching their kids play at the playground.
3. Flametree

This is a popular winery at Margaret River. We encountered their wine about 3 years ago at a family gathering.
I’m not a fan of red wine due to its acidity/ tartness, whatever you want to name it.
However, the red wine from Flametree was very clean and crisp. While well-bodied, it lacks the acidity that wine from Italy or France would have.
We did a wine tasting of about 6 wines. The price you pay which is about AUD$10 for the wine tasting could be offset if you purchase a bottle.
4. Glenarty Road

Another popular winery that serves food as well. It has a small outdoor area for the kids to run around. While the compound big, the entrance was filled with roses, very beautiful.
We love their service as they explain every single wine that we chose to taste. The staff were very knowledgable about the wine.

There are indeed a lot of winery in Margaret River. If you are looking for a tour where you would like to visit the best, this HIDDEN GEM Wine Tour will be your best option to try out different wineries.
5. Crocked Carrot

This was the last place we visited before leaving for the airport. I can only say I will come back again. This whole place is really cute. It has a huge playground next to the dining area. The dining place was fully sheltered but very well-ventilated. Parents can see all the happenings at the playground.
Their food serving was huge. Apart from classics like fish and chips, they have fusion as well like the Chicken Skewers in peanut sauce which tastes like Indonesian Satay.
We only had about an hour here. Therefore the kids didn’t really fully utilise the playground since we were here for lunch. They have a shop that sells all sorts of house and garden decor items. They were all very beautiful.
During my next visit, I’ll definitely grab some ceramic planting pots back.
6. Social Manna

This wasn’t at Margaret River.
I had my first taste of Turkish Eggs here which I’m so going to recreate at home. A very well-balanced dish that is very satisfying with the savoury yogurt, poached eggs, and chilli oil combination.
A very hearty breakfast to start the day right.
And so I’m not a masala girl.
Their latte was topped with Masala powder which I cringed a little when they served it to me. But they were very nice to offer to change it if I really do not like it. I guess my expression just tells it all?
It was, at the start, a little choking. But after a few sips, it was surprisingly very manageable.
When you stir everything up, the taste is pleasant.
7. Rocky Ridge Brewing Co

This wasn’t really at Margaret River either.
When we were on our way to Margaret River, we passed by Busselton Jetty. As the name says, they brew their own beer. It was light and crisp and super refreshing.

We tried their burger and mini fish tacos with pickled purple cabbage. It pairs very well with the beer. This place has no frills just beer. They have a small retailer which sells some of their own products as well as bottled beer.
Ending Note
Margaret River a place with great food and wine. Compared to Europe, they are very casual and chill. Nothing is too pretentious when majority of the people wore t-shirt and shorts everywhere.
If you have other great food places to reommend, commend in the section below. We will definitely be going back for our second visit.
