Our Favourite Dinings in Yokohama

In our second trip to Japan in Dec 2025, Yokohama was our first city after we landed.

dining at Yokohama,

Yokohama being the second most populated city after Tokyo is famous for it’s Cup Noodles Musuem. Of course it also has it fair share to popular and delicious food.

After an overnight flight to Haneda Airport, we took a train down to Yokohama just in time for breakfast.

This major port city is very well developed and modern which is comparable to Tokyo except that it’s less crowded.

We spent 2 days in this city and I’m going to share a few great eats in the city that we tried.

Let’s go!

Beck’s Coffee

Fluffy buttered toast that is paired with red bean cream is probably a strange combination to some. Yet it taste amazing. The bread is so soft and pillowy that you don’t feel really full after 1 serving. The butter is so light and fragrance that you don’t feel the greasiness to it even though your fingers do get oily after touching it.

Beck’s Coffee is a franchise owns JR East Cross Station’s Foods Company which is operated mainly within many railway stations across the country.

This eatery offers mainly breakfast sets, coffee, croissants, dips and other baked good.

Sushi and Ramen Uogashiya Minato Mirai Ichiban

You want both sushi and ramen at the same time?

Yes you can.

Sushi & Ramen Uogashiya serve both in the same set meal. You can also order them seperately at the ordering machine outside.

This eatery is a new chain where you can find them at various locations in Japan such as Yokohama and Tokyo. They were first opened in the beginning of 2025.

We all agreed that both dishes require long prepartion time and a lot of effert. Despite it all, both sushi and ramen were done very well.

The shoyu ramen has very rich flavours yet very light in taste. The specialty of this dish is putting in the extra bonito flakes for a deeper flavour. If you enjoy the texture of the bonito flakes, you can simply throw everything. For those who prefer not to eat the flakes, you can remove it after dipping the flavours in. A seperate bowl is provided on your tray to place your mini strainer.

The sushi comes in 5 or 6 pieces which is adequte for a light meal. Be mindful that all the sushi are topped with raw fish, and you cannot request for specific fish or toppings as all comes in a fix set.

Toro Masa (Izakaya)

This is the first izakaya we visited in this trip. Izakayas are easy places for a big group with different taste buds.

This place very popular with locals and luckily we made a reservation. They have a common dining area near the entrance. Upon walking in, they also have private rooms where you need to remove your shoes.

While me and my hubby love sashimi, my younger son only likes Karaage or Yakotori and my girl loves noodles. With very diverse favourites, an izakaya can give us many choices with their extensive menu.

Most izakaya have their own specialty dishes. For Toro Masa, it was a crab suace dish. I have no idea what was inside, But it was extremely umami with a strange after taste. I was lukewarm about it, but my hubby totally love it.

Their Clams in Sake was also one of our absolute favorite. It has very fresh and juicy clams in clear broth that was deeply satsfying.

But the only gripe was, the portion was too little. The bowl only has 12 clams for the 3 of us to share since my boy doesn’t take it. It would probably be a little too much to order another bowl.

Ramen Hayashida

This eatery as highlighted in the name, serves ramen. They have very flavourful Shoyu and Shio ramen which my kids and hubby ordered.

But I want to focus on the tan tan ramen which I ordered. While I enjoy spicy food, I alwasys try not to do so when dining outside if I feel that both my kids do not want to eat the same thing that day.

However, upon seeing the Tan Tan Noodles on the menu, I felt very compelled to order it. Afterall, I’m in Japan. How spicy can their spicy dishes be?

I was right. It was mildly spicy, at the same time, very fragrant. I would like to think that my hubby was slightly regretful that he didn’t order this.

If you are craving for some spice in you food when you happen to swing by, do give Tan Tan Noodles a try.

This sums up what we had in Yokohama.
